Section 9, **The Rice Corporation (Repeal) Act, 1980**

(1) The Minister may, subject to section 11 of the Constitution, whenever it shall appear to him necessary in the interest of development or for the proper utilisation of rice in such a manner as to promote the public benefit or public welfare, acquire for the Produce Marketing Board any rice in the possession of any person in Sierra Leone. (2) All expenses and compensation payable in respect of the acquisition of rice, acquired for the Produce Marketing Board under this section shall be paid by the Produce Marketing Board.
