Section 52, The Local Government Act, 2004

(1) There is hereby established the Local Government Finance Committee which shall consist of– (a) a senior representative of each of the Ministries responsible for finance, local government and development and economic planning; and (b) four other persons nominated by the Chairpersons of all local councils, such persons having considerable knowledge of public finance but no allegiance to any local (2) One of the members nominated by the Chairpersons shall chair meetings of the Local Government Finance Committee. (3) The Local Government Finance Committee may coopt such persons as are necessary to assist it to perform its duties. (4) Subject to this section, the Local Government Finance Committee shall regulate the procedure for its meetings. (5) The Ministry responsible for finance shall provide the secretariat for the Local Government Finance Committee. (6) The members of the Local Government Finance Committee shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Parliament.
