Section 20, The Insurance Act, 2016

(1) No person shall carry on the business of (a) protection and indemnity club; (b) mutual marine protection; (c) cooperative insurance association in Sierra Leone, unless that person applies for and is registered as a club in the protection and indemnity business or any marine business under this Act Registration of insurers. Protection and indemnity club to be registered. (2) For the purposes of this Act “protection and indemnity club” means a mutual insurance association that provides cover for its members.
