Financing of Terrorism Act, 2012

STAUTORY INSTRUMENT NO. 9 OF 2016 Published 18th August , 2016 THE ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING AND COMBATING OF FINANCING OF TERRORISM ACT, 2012 (ACT NO. 2 OF 2012) TERRORISM PREVENTION (FREEZING OF INTERNATIONAL TERRORISTS FUNDS AND OTHER RELATED MEASURES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2016. In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Unit by section 133 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Financing of Terrorism Act, 2012 the Unit hereby makes the following Regulations–

International Terrorists Funds and Other Related Measures) Regulations, 2013 is amended by the repeal and replacement of subregulation (3) with the following new sub-regulation - “(3) Upon receipt of a designated list of persons or organisations from the United Nations, Regional Member States of ECOWAS or the Government of Sierra Leone, the CISU shall immediately take all necessary measures to disseminate such list to financial i n s t i t u t i o n s , designated non-financial businesses and professions, members of the committee, supervisory authorities and relevant competent authorities” Short tittle. 2 STATUTORY INSTRUMENT Supplement to the Sierra Leone Gazette Vol. CXLVII, No. 39 dated 18th August, 2016 . 2.. Regulation 16 of the Terrorism Prevention (Freezing International Terrorist Funds and Other Related Measures) Regulations, 2013 is amended by the repeal and replacement of that regulation with the following new Regulation- 16. All designated lists issued by the United Nations, Regional Member States of ECOWAS and the Government of Sierra Leone shall be distributed by the CISU to all competent authorities, and reporting entities immediately upon receipt thereof.”

International Terrorist Funds and Other Related Matters) Regulations, 2013 is amended by the repeal and replacement of that Regulation with the following new Regulation - 30. The Unit shall upon receipt of notice thereof disseminate, without delay, information on actions taken by local and foreign competent authorities including Financial Intelligence Units and other entities who are responsible for counter-terrorism and counter-financing of terrorism with respect thereof.” MADE this 20th day of July, 2016.
