Section 15, The Police Act, 1964

Any police officer of and below the rank of Inspector at any time during the currency of any term of engagement may be discharged, when such police officer—(i) has been pronounced by a Medical Officer to be physically or mentally unfit for further service; or (ii) in the appropriate case has applied for his discharge under subsection (2) of section 14 or has been permitted by the Commissioner to resign.
