Section 40, The Universities Act, 2005

It shall be the duty of the Court to refer to the Senate anymatter coming before it which it considers to be of an academic nature and the Senate shall also bring before the Court any matter coming before it which it considers to have financial implications or in any way might affect the general well being of the University or its relationship with persons or bodies outside the University.
