Section 47, the Local Government Act, 2004, exercising authority

(1) No person shall- (a) wilfully or negligently cause damage to any waterworks or the environment in the catchment area; (b) unlawfully divert or take water from any waterworks or from a catchment area; (c) pollute or cause risk of pollution to any water in any waterworks or catchment area. (2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding 10,000,000.00 Leones or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 3 years or to both the fine and imprisonment.
