Section 16, The Arms and Ammunition Act, 2012

(1) A person who takes possession of any small arm orlight weapon which belonged to a deceased person shall deposit such small arm or light weapon together with any licence relating to the same at the National Small Arms and Light Weapons Registry or to the nearest police station. (2) The Registrar shall not grant an authorization for the release of any small arm or light weapon deposited in a Small Arms and Light Weapons Registry or police station under subsection (1), except with the written consent of the person administering the estate of such deceased person.
