Section 58, The Child Right Act, 2007

(1) A district council shall protect the welfare and promotethe rights of children within its area of authority and shall ensure that within the district, governmental agencies liaise with each other in matters concerning children. (2) Subject to this Part, the district council by its appropriate child welfare department, shall investigate cases of contravention of child rights within the district that are reported to it or come to its notice.
