Section 25, The Freetown Improvement Short title

The Director of Public Works may give notice to theoccupier of any building to remove or alter any porch, shed, pr-ojecting window, balcony, verandah, shoot, step, or similar projection which, after this Ordinance comes into operation, shall be erected or placed against or in front of any building, on or over any street contrary to this Ordinance, and such occupier shaJl, within fourteen days after the service of such notice upon him, remove such porch, shed, projecting window, balcony, verandah, shoot, step, or projection or alter the same in such manner as shall have been directed by the Director of Public Works, and in default thereof shall be liable to a penalty n?t exceeding one hundred pounds; and the Director of Pubhc Works in such case may remove any such porch, shed, projecting window, balcony, verandah, shoot, step, or projection, and the expenses of the Director of Public Works for, or incident to, such removal shall be paid by the occupier so making default, and shall be recoverable as damages: Provided always that, except in the case in which such porch, shed, projecting window, balcony, verandah, shoot, step, or projection shall be made or put up by the occupier, such occupier shall be entitled to deduct the expenses of removing the same from the rent payable by him to the owner of the If any such porch, shed, projecting window, balcony, 26· d h shoot step, or projection was, or shall be, erected or verand aa 'ainst, 'or in front of, anY: building <?n, or ove!, any placet before this Ordinance comes mto operatwn, the Director :~~ublic Works may cause the same to be removed or altered v~ he thinks fit: a:; , vided that the Director of Public Works gives notice of ~r~ntended removal or alteration to the occupier of the said :'u~,d:;g fourteen days before such alteration or removal is ?uu n and if such porch, shed, projecting window, balcony, ~egundah shoot, step, or projection shall be proved by the 'e:aer or' occupier to have been lawfully made and without a 0 '"'rr · · h l h D. t f~ ~ clition sub]ectmg t e same to remova , t e 1rec or o ~-1lic Works shall make reasonable compensation to every ur;«on who suffers damage by such removal or alteration.ue 0 ~
