Section 9, The Rural Area (2) This Ordinance shall come into operation on the first day of January, 1950, or

(1) The President of the Rural Area Council shall be the Chairman thereof and shall by virtue of his office be a Justice of the Peace for the Headquarters Judicial District and the Police District of Freetown. (2) The chairman of a local authority shall hold office until the happening of any one of the following events, that is to say-- (a) he resigns from the office of chairman; or (b) a general election is held. (3) The chairman of a local authority shall be the chief executive authority of such local authority. (4) The chairman of a local authority (other than a President appointed by the Governor) may resign his office at any time by notice in writing addressed to the local authority.
