Section 26, The Debtors' Ordinance

The Court, at the original hearing of the cause, or at anyadjournment thereof, shall have the same power of examining the defendant and the plaintiff and other persons touching the discovery of the property of the defendant, the production of books and documents, and the mode in which the liability was incurred as hereinbefore is provided and, if judgment be given, of committing the judgment debtor to prison, and of making an order for the protection of property as the Court might have and exercise, in case the judgment creditor had obtained a summons or order for that purpose upon a judgment remaining unsatisfied.
