Section 50, The Sierra Leone Correctional Service Act, 2014

If any inmate escapes during the time in any hospital orinstitution, no corrections officer shall be held answerable for the escape, unless the inmate shall have been in the personal custody of the officer; and no medical officer or person in charge of the hospital or institution or other person shall be answerable for the escape unless it can be shown that, that person helped the inmate to escape or has wilfully neglected to take reasonable precautions to prevent the escape.
