Section 34: Survey of ships.

(1) Every ship shall before registration, be surveyed by a surveyor of ship and her tonnage ascertained in accordance with the tonnage regulations made under this Act. (2) The surveyor shall issue a tonnage certificate specifying the ship’s tonnage and build in accordance with regulations made under this Act and such other particulars descriptive of the identity of the ship as may for the time being be required by the Registrar. (3) The tonnage certificate shall be delivered to the Registrar before the ship is registered.
