Section 48: Rules for registration of alterations.

(1) For the purposes of the registration of an alteration in ship, the ship’s Certificate shall be produced to theRegistrar within 30 days after the alteration, and he shall either— a) retain the Certificate and grant a new Certificate of Registry containing description of the ship as altered; or b) endorse and sign on the existing certificate a memorandum of the alteration. (2) The particulars of the alteration and the fact that a new Certificate having been granted or an endorsement having been made shall be entered by the Registrar in the Register.
