DECREE Supplement to the Sierra Leone Gazette Vol. CXXIII, No. 59 dated 10th September, 1992 N.P.R.C. Decree No. 7 1992 Sierra Leone The Advisory Council (Establishment) Decree, 1992 [Margin: Short title.] [10th September, 1992] [Margin: Date of Commencement.] PURSUANT to the Proclamation entitled "The Administration of Sierra Leone (National Provisional Ruling Council) Proclamation, 1992", published in the Gazette on the 4th day of May, 1992 as Public Notice No. 20 of 1992, the National Provisional Ruling Council hereby makes and issues the following Decree— [Margin: Establishment of Advisory Council.] [Margin: (handwritten) Replaced by Decree no 2 of 199[illegible]]

(1) There is hereby established a Council to be called the ADVISORY COUNCIL which shall consist of fifteen [struck through by hand] members. (2) Members of the Advisory Council shall not be paid any salary but shall be entitled to allowances as the National Provisional Ruling Council shall approve. (a) working out the modalities for the return to multi-party democracy with a view to ensuring a broad and equitable participation of the citizenry in the democratization process and reflecting the views and aspirations of the people; [Margin: (handwritten) Replaced by Decree no. 3 of 1994] (b) advising and making recommendations to the National Provisional Ruling Council on any issue of national importance; [struck through by hand] (c) such other functions as the National Provisional Ruling Council may from time to time specify in writing. There shall be a Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively of the Advisory Council, who shall be elected by majority vote at the first meeting of the Advisory Council from among its members. [Margin: Appointment of Secretary.]
