Section 148, The Criminal Procedure Act, 2024

(1) Where in the course of a trial with the aid of assessors,at any time prior to the finding, an assessor, for sufficient cause, is prevented from attending throughout the trial, the trial shall, with the consent of the prosecution and of the defence, proceed with the aid of the remaining assessors. (2) Where 2 or more of the assessors are prevented from attending or absent themselves, the proceedings shall be stayed and a new trial shall be held with the aid of fresh assessors.
