Section 10, 62 of the Environmental Protection Act, 2008, the Board hereby makes

(1) Applications for an artisanal mining licence made inaccordance with paragraph (e) of sub-section (2) of section 85 of the Mines and Minerals Act 2009, shall be accompanied by a statement giving particulars of the likely effects of the proposed mining operations on the environment and on the local population. (2) The Director of Mines shall consider the relevant Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment recommendations and ESIS when determining whether to refuse or grant an artisanal mining licence under section 86 of the Mines and Minerals Act, 2009.
