Section 2: The object of these Regulations is to -

(a) safeguard the interests of the farmers against nutrient deficiencies, adulteration, misleading claims, and short weight; (b) safeguard the interests of fertilizer enterprises and contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for private sector investment in the fertilizer industry; (c) protect the people, animals, plants and the environment of Sierra Leone against the potential dangers associated with inappropriate fertilizer use; and (d) facilitate national and regional trade in fertilizers, through implementation of principles and rules mutually agreed in the Economic Community of West African States region to dismantle trade barriers.
