Section 19, The Summary Conviction Offences Ordinance

Any person, who shall unlawfully assault or beat any other ~~s~3't~nperson, shall, on conviction thereof, be liable to a fine, not exceeding five pounds, or to imprisonment for any period not exceeding three months: Provided always that in case the Magistrate shall find any Committal in certain cases. such assault as aforesaid to have been accompanied by any attempt to commit felony, or shall be of opinion that the same is, from any other circumstance, a fit subject for a prosecution on information, he shall abstain from any adjudication thereon, and shall deal with the case in all respects as one to be prosecuted on information; and nothing herein contained shall authorise any Magistrate to hear and determine in a summary way any . f l · h" h t• h 11 • h • l QuestiOns ofcase o assau t m w IC any ques wn s a anse as to t e tit e title. of any lands, tenements, or hereditaments, or any interest therein or accruing thereupon, or any execution under the process of any superior Court of Justice.
