(1) The Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces shall be appointed by the President.
(2) The Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces shall, subject to the provisions of this Section and to the control
or direction of the Defence Council, be responsible for the operational control and the administration of the Armed
Forces as a whole.
