Section 54, The Public Elections Act, 2012

(1) A person elected to the office of President shall,subject to subsection (2), assume that office on the date upon which he is declared elected by the Returning Officer or upon the date that his predecessor’s term of office expires, whichever is the later. (2) Before assuming office, the President shall take and subscribe the oath for the due execution of his office, set out in the Second Schedule to the Constitution.
