Section 112, Civil Aviation Act, 2017 for an effective aviation safety and security

(1) The Authority shall have a Security Oversight Unit toassist in carrying out the responsibilities of the Director General’s office with respect to regulating aviation security. (2) A Security Oversight Unit under subsection (1) shall comprise Aviation Security Inspectors who shall, under the supervision and direction of the Director-General, carry out security oversight activities. (3) The primary objective of the Security Oversight Unit is to ensure- (a) protection and safety of passengers, crew, ground personnel and the general public against acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation; and (b) rapid response to meet any security threat.
